Thank you for using MyVerse Daily ("the App"), developed by TPB Ministry. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

1 Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our services. The types of information we may collect include:

a. Personal Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account or customize your experience, we may collect your name, email address, preferences (e.g., themes, moods, or life seasons for verse personalization), and any other details you voluntarily provide.
  • User Content: Notes, highlights, journal entries, and reflections you create or upload in the App. This may include text, dates from the calendar feature, and exported files.
  • Contact Information: If you contact us for support, we may collect your email or other details you share.

b. Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, such as pages viewed, features used (e.g., Bible reading, highlighting, journaling), time spent, and app performance metrics.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system (e.g., iOS version), unique device identifiers, IP address, and mobile network information.
  • Location Data: If you enable location services (optional), we may collect approximate location to personalize verses or features, but only with your consent.
  • Analytics Data: We use third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase) to collect anonymized data on app usage to improve functionality.

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial details, health data, or biometric information unless you voluntarily include it in your notes or journals (which we advise against).

2 How We Collect Information

  • Directly from You: When you input data, create notes, or customize settings.
  • Automatically: Through cookies, log files, device sensors, and analytics tools when you use the App.
  • From Third Parties: If you log in via social media or other services, we may receive basic profile information with your permission.

3 How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the App's core features, such as delivering personalized daily Bible verses, enabling Bible reading, highlighting, note-taking, journaling, calendar navigation, and exporting notes.
  • To personalize your experience based on your preferences and usage patterns.
  • To improve the App, including debugging, analyzing trends, and developing new features.
  • To communicate with you, such as sending app updates, responding to inquiries, or providing devotional tips (with your opt-in consent for marketing).
  • To ensure security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
  • For anonymized research and analytics to understand user engagement with Scripture.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising without your explicit consent.

4 Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who assist us in operating the App (e.g., cloud storage like AWS for backing up your notes, analytics providers). These parties are bound by confidentiality and only use data as instructed.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
  • With Your Consent: For any other purpose with your explicit permission.

We may share aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., overall app usage statistics) publicly or with partners.

5 Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption for data in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your notes and journals are stored securely on your device and/or our servers (if you enable cloud sync). We recommend using strong passwords and enabling device security features.

6 Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law. For example:

  • Account data is kept while your account is active.
  • User content (notes, journals) is retained until you delete it or your account.
  • Usage data may be kept for up to 2 years for analytics.

When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7 Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your information:

  • Access and Update: View, edit, or export your notes, journals, and preferences within the App.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data by contacting us. We will comply within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal obligations.
  • Opt-Out: Disable location services, push notifications, or analytics tracking in your device settings or App preferences.
  • Do Not Track: We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, as there is no industry standard for mobile apps.

Residents of certain regions (e.g., EU under GDPR, California under CCPA) may have additional rights, such as data portability or objection to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8 Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information should contact us.

9 International Data Transfers

If you are outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US or other countries where our servers or service providers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for international transfers.

10 Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., Bible translations from external sources). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before interacting.
